Zinc Alloy
Zinc alloys are promising biodegradable metals due to their desirable corrosion characteristics and good biocompatibility. Zinc alloys are used for a range of applications including cosmetic vehicle parts, complex part housings, and fuel system components. At Marigold, we normally use Zamak 3 for Zinc alloy. It exhibits similar machinability to copper but are less abrasive to tooling. Automotive part shells and small electric motor casings are typical applications for this type of zinc.

Plastics
Plastics are also very popular option for CNC machining because of its wide choices, relatively lower price, and significantly faster machining time needed. We provide all common plastics for CNC machining services.

Plastics
ABS
ABS is tough, heat-resistant, and impact-resistant. Lightweight and easy to work with, this material suits car parts and consumer goods where durability matters but cost is also important.

POM
POM is strong and has a low-friction surface, making it perfect for precision parts like gears and bearings where things need to fit just right and work smoothly.

PMMA (Acrylic)
PMMA (acrylic) is clear, weather-resistant, and won't fade. Ideal for outdoor displays, signage, and lighting, it holds up well in the elements.

Polycarbonate (PC)
Polycarbonate is super durable and clear, with amazing impact resistance. Commonly found in bulletproof glass and safety gear, it can take a hit without cracking.

PEEK
PEEK is strong and can handle high temperatures without losing its strength. Found in high-performance industries like aerospace and medical implants, it's built for extreme conditions.

Polypropylene (PP)
Polypropylene is tough, chemical-resistant, and handles higher temps. It's commonly found in car parts, containers, and packaging, especially where exposure to heat or chemicals is common.

Polyphenylsulfone (PPSU)
PPSU (Polyphenylsulfone) is a high - performance engineering plastic. It has excellent heat resistance (stable at 180°C long - term), good chemical resistance, high mechanical strength, and superior electrical insulation. Biocompatible and sterilization - resistant, it’s widely used in medical, aerospace, chemical, food, and electronics fields.

Our CNC Surface Finishing Options
Anodizing
Anodizing is one of the most widely used finishing for rapid prototyping parts, it improves corrosion resistance, enhancing wear resistance and hardness, and protecting the metal surface. It is often applied in mechanical parts, aircraft, and automobile parts, precision instruments, etc.
At Marigold Rapid, we can offer different anodizing colors like clear, black, red, blue, gold, grey.

Polishing
Polishing is the process of creating a smooth and shiny surface, either through physical rubbing of the part or by chemical interference.
Polishing process can be applied for different metals such as Aluminum, Brass, Stainless Steel, Steel.

Sandblasting
Sand blasting results in parts with an identical surface with a matte texture. Used mainly for visual applications and can be followed by other surface treatments such as anodizing.
Sandblasting can be applied for various of materials of rapid prototypes, like ABS, Aluminum, Brass, Stainless Steel, Steel etc.

Painting
Painting is one of the most widely used surface treatment in industrial products or our daily life. With painting we can achieve different kinds of finishes, such as matt painting, glossy painting, textured painting, soft touch painting, and in theory any color is possible upon request.
At Marigold Rapid, we use both Pantone code and RAL code for color reference. And quite often customers also provide golden samples to us for our reference during production.
At

Powder Coating
Powder coating is a type of coating that is applied as a free-flowing, dry powder. Unlike conventional liquid paint which is delivered via an evaporating solvent, powder coating is typically applied electrostatically and then cured under heat or with ultraviolet light.
At Marigold Rapid, the most common colors we offer for powder coating is black and white, but we can basically offer any RAL or Pantone code colors upon request, and also glossy or matt finishes are available.

Electroplating
Electroplating is majorly applied to modify the surface features of an object (e.g corrosion protection, lubricity, abrasion). Some of the other common applications of electroplating involve:
· Improving wear resistance.
· Improving the thickness of the metal surface.
· Enhancing the electrical conductivity like plating a copper layer on an electrical component.
· Minimizing Friction
· Improving surface uniformity.

Our CNC Machining Tolerance
Our general tolerances for CNC machining of metals is DIN-2768-1-fine and for plastics DIN-2768-1-medium. Tolerances are greatly affected by part geometry and type of material. Our sales executives will consult with you on every project and we always aim to provide the best tolerance to you.
